2023 saw Frances Tiafoe reach the last four at Indian Wells. He'd love to get that far or even better this time around. The second round of this Masters 1000 tournament sees the 18th seed face unsseded Dusan Lajovic for a place in the last 32. This is an outdoor hard court tournament and Tiafoe has a good record in those having gone deep at the US Open in the past. The winner of this match will either unseeded Lucas Pouille or the 11th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tiafoe is 4-1 up in previous matches against his opponent. It's 1-1 on outdoor hard courts but the only win Lajovic has had was seven years ago. Tiafoe has reached two quarter finals this year. One was in Hong Kong, the other in Dallas. 

Dusan Lajovic was ranked 56th at the start of this Indian Wells tournament. That's well below his career high of 23rd. His best performance in this tournament has been getting to the fourth round in 2017, that was the one time he's beaten Tiafoe. This year got off to a slow start for him with just one of his first four matches being won, all played on hard courts. He then played on the South American clay court tour and did a bit better. Quarter finals were reached in both Buenos Aires and Rio. Back on hard courts he lost to Casper Ruud in the second round in Acapulco. Round one of this tournament saw him beat Emil Ruusuvouri in straight sets. We tip Tiafoe to get the win in this match.
