Top seed Frances Tiafoe faces unseeded Aleksandar Vukic for a place in the last four of the Almaty Open. The winner will face either third seed Karen Khachanov or wild card Beibit Zhukayev next. Here's our match prediction.
Frances Tiafoe had to come from a set down to qualifier Daniel Evans in his opening match. The first two sets both went to a tie-break before the American world number 15 won the decider 6-3.
Tiafoe is up to 14th in the ATP Live Race but unlikely to qualify for the Tour Finals. He was in top form in August with one hard court final reached and two other semi-finals, including the US Open. He's had a recent win over Daniil Medvedev but had two early losses in singles tournaments.
Aleksandar Vukic was down at 91st in the latest rankings. This run to the last eight in Almaty has taken him to 77th in the live rankings and could climb another five places if beating the top seed.
The Australian has had wins over James Duckworth and eighth-seed (and defending champion) Adrian Mannarino, both in straight sets. There's been one previous match between these two players. Tiafoe won that in three sets in a match played in Dallas four years ago.
