France vs United States Prediction & Betting Tips - Men's Olympics Rugby

Pool C in the rugby sevens competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics gets underway with the host nation France taking on the United States on Wednesday afternoon. Les Bleus enter this match ranked fifth in the world, while the US hold the ninth spot in the rankings. This Pool also features Uruguay and Fiji. Here’s our prediction for this first-round encounter. 

All eyes will be on France for this competition as they look to make amends after a poor 2023, where they saw their 15s side miss out on a home World Cup and finish second in the Six Nations. 

Led by the world’s best player Antoine Dupont, Les Bleus earned their entry to this competition as the host nation. Their last outing came at the end of last month when they lost to Ireland at the SVNS Europe Series in Germany. 

However, that result followed a run of eight consecutive victories, during which they beat the likes of Italy, Great Britain and the Shamrocks earlier in the month.  

Despite the bookmakers making Les Bleus the favourites here, the US cannot be overlooked. They come to Paris carrying a five-match winning streak and have only lost two of their last 10 matches in all competitions, which were against New Zealand and Great Britain.

Those results have seen them move within one point of overtaking the Brits into eighth place in the world standings. Additionally, each of their last four victories have come by a margin greater than seven points. 

While France have dominated this fixture in the past, it is the US that won the last encounter 19-17 when these sides met at the Singapore SVNS at the start of May.
