Japanese Grand Prix Predictions & Betting tips - Formule 1
by Devesh Jaganath |
Formula 1 heads to the Suzuka Circuit for the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday morning. Lando Norris currently leads the driver standings with 44 points, Max Verstappen is second with 36 points, and George Russell is in third place with 35 points. Let’s get into the race prediction.
McLaren were denied a third consecutive pole for the 2025 season on Saturday when Max Verstappen snatched top spot with a blistering final qualifying lap at the Suzuka Circuit.
The defending champion clocked a time of 1:26.983, just 0.012s than the Papaya team, which earned him his fourth consecutive pole at the track and was the 41st in his career.
Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris had originally set the pace in Q1 and Q2, respectively, but Verstappen’s incredible effort meant that the McLarens will have to settle for P2 and P3 on the grid.
Charles Leclerc secured a place in the second row with a time of 1:27.299s. However, seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton finished three-tenths behind his teammate, which was only good enough for eighth.
An error on his final qualifying lap saw George Russell left to settle for P5 but young Andrea Kimi Antonelli had one of his best days for Mercedes, clinching a promising sixth.
Isack Hadjar, Alex Albon and Oliver Bearman rounded out the top 10. Notably, Carlos Sainz was hit with a three-place penalty and will start in 15th.

Our Japanese Grand Prix - Formule 1 prediction
Max Verstappen gave the mighty McLarens a reminder of just who he is in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix, as he stormed to pole with an incredible final lap of 1:26.983.
However, the Papaya team will start in second and third place, and given how they performed in tandem in China last week, the Red Bull ace will have his work cut out to hold them off this week. Our Japanese Grand Prix prediction is McLaren most team points.
