Felix Auger-Aliassime meets Andrey Rublev in what has been termed a final before the real at the Hamburg Open. Indeed, this is a heavyweight affair, as the two meet for the eighth time in their careers. Below we have a prediction for this semi-final match.

The winner here will face Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Flavio Cobolli in the title match. Auger-Aliassime managed only his third win on clay this year in the last round.

He overcame Alexandre Muller in three sets to advance here. It wasn’t an easy sailing as tiebreakers were needed in the first two sets. In the earlier seven meetings with Rublev, Auger-Aliassime managed just one win.

Rublev will be looking to keep his run against Auger-Aliassime going. He wouldn’t have chosen a better venue for them to meet. Hamburg has always been a good hunting ground for the Russian.

After beating Luciano Darderi 2-1, he now has a 13-4 record here and will be happy to face an opponent he has dominated before. Rublev has been to the ATP Hamburg final twice, won it once (in 2020), and has never lost a semi-final at this event.
