Wild card Michael Zheng takes on unseeded Fabian Marozsan on his outdoor hard court US Open main draw debut. The American recently played Marozsan on this surface in Cincinnati and won in three sets. Our prediction is that he can get another victory.
In round two of this Grand Slam, the winner here will take on either 12th seed Rafael Jodar or Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Michael Zheng has won 16 of his 23 outdoor hard court matches played this year. He has been in good form this month with a run to the third round in Cincinnati after winning two qualifiers. That included beating Marozsan and also Ugo Humbert, before losing to Lorenzo Musetti.
The semi-finals of the recent Bloomfield Hills Challenger Tour event were also reached as well as round three at WImbledon.
Fabian Marozsan will be out for some revenge here He made it to the quarter-finals in Winston Salem last week, but didn't beat any seeded players and then lost to James Duckworth in three sets.
He had lost his last two matches before that tournament, both on this surface. His best in the US Open is a couple of second rounds. Last year saw him beaten in the first round of this Grand Slam.
