Four-time champions England Women will look to start their 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with a success over South Africa when the sides meet on Friday. This will be match #4 of the tournament and will be played at Guwahati, with our prediction of England posting the highest opening partnership of the match.
England qualified for the tournament by finishing third behind Australia and India in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25. Of the seven series they played, the English women lost only to India, and that too at the beginning of the cycle. South Africa qualified by finishing fourth in the ICC Women’s Championship.
England are among the most successful sides in this competition, winning the title on four occasions, the latest being in 2017. They finished second behind Australia in the last edition and would want to go all the way this time out.
Recent form is a concern, as England lost 2-1 at home to India in July. Going further back, they were beaten in seven of their last 20 games, an indicator that they could be challenged!
South Africa come here winning five of their eight recent games, so there’s a chance they could look to challenge England’s might. They have reached the semi-finals in the last two editions, so don’t count them out just yet.

Our England Women vs South Africa Women Prediction
England have been the nemesis for South Africa for long and are perhaps a team they wouldn’t want to face. The South African women have lost seven of the last eight ODIs against England and six of the eight World Cup clashes between these teams. Although England’s recent form isn’t great and South Africa can push them hard, this could be a game that the three-time champions are likely to win.
There’s value in backing the English women to start well with the bat. Our England Women vs South Africa Women prediction is England women highest opening partnership.
