Jaqueline Cristian defeated Alexandrova when they first met this season in Adelaide. She won in straight sets to tie this series at 1-1.
The Romanian, who is making her second main draw appearance in Miami, will be hoping for a similar performance as she seeks a record run in this event. Cristian defeated Peyton Stearns in straight sets as she also began her tournament in the second round.
