Both Eintracht Frankfurt and Bochum will target a return to winning ways when they meet at Deutsche Bank Park in the Bundesliga. Hosts Frankfurt are holding onto the last slot for Europe while Bochum are just nine points above automatic relegation. Frankfurt do not look like they’ll mount a serious challenge for a Champions League spot. A Conference League place may be just fine with them and at the moment they are occupying that slot. They have managed 31 points thus far, and are five points behind fifth placed Leipzig. Frankfurt haven't done well in this fixture in recent meetings. They have gone without a win in the last three meetings with Bochum. The fact that they are coming from defeat will not ease matters for the hosts. In their last outing, Frankfurt suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Cologne. They had to finish the game with nine men after Niels Nkounkou and Lucas Melo were sent off. That loss cut off a four-game unbeaten run that they had established and marked the second time in 10 games that they failed to score.

The last two meetings between these two sides ended in 1-1 draws. The preceding game had seen Bochum pick a 3-0 win. The visitors, with a three-game unbeaten run, will go into this game full of confidence. Their recent run however doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence, having won just once in the last five league games. Bochum have suffered two losses in their last five Bundesliga matches and managed just one clean sheet in the run. They are coming from a 1-1 draw with Augsburg, a game they felt they should have won. Augsburg scored a stoppage time equalizer to deny Bochum three points. That result left them just three points above the relegation playoff zone. Bochum’s away run is even more worrying, having failed to win any of their last four in the league. They have actually suffered three straight away losses coming into this game.
