Premier League of Ireland strugglers Dundalk host title-chasing Shamrock Rovers this weekend in what is a crucial game for the visiting Hoops. The home side Railwaymen sit bottom of the table and certain to go down. It’s a crucial match at a vital point of the Irish season so what will our prediction for it be?
It has been a miserable season for Jon Daly and his Dundalk team. The Lilywhites are eight points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League of Ireland table and cannot improve their position.
Their recent home form has been shocking with five straight defeats at Oriel Park. Their last game saw a 2-0 defeat to Derry City last weekend at home. They have scored just one goal in their past five home matches.
Shamrock Rovers on the other hand, are chasing the title. Shamrock know that they cannot afford to slip up here as they lie third in the table, two points behind leaders Shelbourne and level on points with Derry City.
Stephen Bradley’s team have won three of their last four, but the sole defeat in that run cost them top spot in the table.
They did bounce back from that defeat winning 2-0 against leaders Shelbourne before last weekend’s 1-0 win away to Drogheda.
