DR Congo - Guinea: Form Analysis
DR Congo advanced to the knockout stage without too much excitement, securing only three points in Group F as they qualified behind Morocco with three draws. They have now drawn their last five AFCON games, marking their second-longest consecutive draw streak in the competition since the 2013 and 2015 editions when they drew all six group-stage games. The Leopards secured a spot in the quarterfinals after a marathon 8-7 penalty shootout triumph against Egypt in the Round of 16. The only goals of the match were netted in the first half by Meschack Elia and Mostafa Mohamed, leading to a penalty shootout after 120 minutes of play. The most recent competitive encounter between these sides took place in a World Cup qualifier in November 2017. The match ended with a 3-1 victory for DR Congo, courtesy of two stoppage-time goals. Unfortunately, despite the win, DR Congo fell short of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
Having reached the last eight, Guinea have already surpassed their performance in the previous edition, where they were eliminated in the Round of 16. In the current tournament, they advanced to the knockout stage as the highest-ranked third-place team in the group stage, amassing four points with a draw against Cameroon and a victory over Gambia in Group C. Despite losing 2-0 to reigning champions Senegal in their final group match, Guinea secured their place in this stage. Their journey continued with a thrilling 1-0 win against rivals Equatorial Guinea, who had a player sent off in the 55th minute. The National Elephants almost saw that match go to extra time but managed to score the vital goal with virtually the last kick of the match. That victory marked the first time Guinea won an AFCON knockout game, a significant achievement after losing the previous three without finding the back of the net. The upcoming match between DR Congo and Guinea will mark their fourth encounter at the Africa Cup of Nations. In their most recent meeting during the 2004 tournament, Guinea staged a comeback to secure a 2-1 victory.

DR Congo & Guinea Squad Analysis
DR Congo have a full squad at their disposal as they came out of their Round of 16 clash with no fresh injuries. Meschak Elia netted the all-important opener against The Pharaohs and should continue in attack here alongside Galatasaray attacker Cedric Bakambu and Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, who scored the opening goal of the tournament for the Leopards.
RB Leipzig midfielder Ilaix Moriba and Bastia striker Facinet Conte have been excused from Africa Cup of Nations duties to facilitate their return to their respective European clubs for injury treatment. Moriba is contending with an adductor injury, and Conte's specific injury has not been disclosed by the federation. Both players, alongside Abdoulaye Toure, were not part of Guinea's squad in their 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea on Sunday. Serhou Guirassy will be hoping to return to the starting 11 after coming off the bench last week.

Our DR Congo vs Guinea Prediction
Few would have envisioned that these two teams would have made it to the last eight, as neither came into the competition with particularly good form. Both sides have made the most of limited opportunity and seem to have prioritized solid defensive performances above everything, which we expect to see continue in this one. This has the feel of a tight and tactical encounter where the first goal could easily end up being the winner. Therefore, our DR Congo vs Guinea prediction: Under 2.5.
