Roger Federer bids to win this title for the sixth time in his career. He has a fantastic record at Indian Wells and this the fifth time in a row he's reached the final. The Swiss legend didn't have to hit a ball to get through his semi-final after Rafael Nadal pulled out with a knee injury. Federer has yet to drop a set as he attempts to win his second tournament in a row. He's only had to play one seeded player so far in this tournament and that was the 22nd seed Kyle Edmund. Federer is 2-2 with Thiem in head-to-head clashes but has won both of his matches played on this surface.

Dominic Thiem is in his first final of the year but while Federer could rest, he had to endure a tough three-set match against MIlos Raonic. That included two tie-breaks and must have taken a lot out of him. He hasn't had the greatest of 2019s so far but this run to the final will warm him up nicely for the upcoming clay season where he excels. Federer can be backed to win this match and win title number 101.
