Diana Shnaider vs Eva Lys Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Hungarian Grand Prix

Top seed Diana Shnaider faces Eva Lys in the semi-final of the Hungarian Grand Prix tennis tournament on Saturday. Shnaider has been in outstanding form of late and will start the semi-final as the hot favorite, especially given her current ranking of 28th in the world, which is 101 places higher than that of her German opponent. The match should be a battle with a place in the final up for grabs. Who will our prediction favor?

Lefty Shnaider has certainly lived up to that billing in the tournament so far. Her superb run of form has seen her win 18 of her last 22 games, and. three of the four defeats she has suffered in that run have come on grass. She won her last clay tournament, the Paris 125 and her only defeat came in the first round at the French Open.

Shnaider opened the tournament with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Fanny Stollar, but has made light work of her next two opponents., Beating Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-3 and then Ella Seidel 6- 4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal. This will be the first time that she has taken on the right handed German Eva Lys. 

Lys is another player in good form, and her performance in Hungary should see her improve to her current WTA ranking of 129th. Lys has won seven of her last ten games but a lot of those games were qualifiers. In this tournament, she was superb in beating sixth seed Nadia Podoroska 6-3, 6-0 in the first round and then received a walkover when Bernarda Pera was forced to retire with Lys winning 7-6(6), 4-1 in their second round game.

A dramatic quarterfinal with Rebecca Sramkova followed, with Lys pipping the Slovakian, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5). 

The victor in this semi-final will move on to Sunday's final where they will face the winner of the Anna Karolina Schmiedlova vs. Aliaksandra Sasnovich semi-final for the title.
