The final match of week six in the Currie Cup takes us to the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening, where Western Province will be taking on the Pumas. Province are bottom of the standings, while the Pumas are in fifth place after five games. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Having only earned one point from five matches in this season’s Currie Cup, Western Province are already out of the running to reach the knockout rounds for a second consecutive year. 

Province have lost all five matches this season, with the most recent coming last week in Durban, where they were edged by the Sharks 29-21. They have now lost nine of their last 10 Currie Cup matches. 

The hosts were beaten 48-23 in their only home game so far this season, but did beat this opponent in their last two encounters at this venue. 

Meanwhile, with 15 points after five games, the Pumas are at risk of missing out on the semis for a second year and have to win this match to force the qualification battle to the final week. 

The Pumas are entering this match following two narrow defeats, first 36-35 at home to the Lions, before going 29-26 to the Cavaliers last weekend. 

However, while the Pumas' home record isn’t great, their away record is better, with the side managing six wins in their last 10 games on the road across all competitions.
