Rafael Nadal has been ultra-consistent in Grand Slam events this year. Only Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have been able to beat him and he's reached the semi-final in all four Grand Slam events this year. The only set he has dropped in this tournament was in the last sixteen against Marin Cilic. The semi-final saw him get past Matteo Berrettini, after a tie-break in the first set, Nadal went on to only lose five games in the next two. He has had one previous meeting with Daniil Medvedev. That was in the recent Canadian Masters where he only lost three games.

Daniil Medvedev came into this tournament in the form of his life. He'd not been that successful in Grand Slam events in the past having never made it past the fourth round. The number five seed has changed that around though to reach his first Grand Slam final. Recent months have seen Medvedev reach the final in Washington and win the Cincinnati Masters. In this tournament, he has had to go to four sets in four of his matches. Nadal faces his toughest match in this US Open but looks in the form to win this title in straight sets.
