Daniel Evans has eliminated one American at ATP London, and another one, Brandon Nakashima, stands in the way. A fifth match between these two in the second round will also mark a second straight meeting at London Queen’s. We have the prediction for this below.

World No. 199 Evans will be targeting a first game in the third round at the tour level this season. His bid at Hertogenbosch last week was extinguished by Ugo Humbert, but his recent performances on grass have been notable.

The most recent of them saw the wildcard eliminate seventh seed Frances Tiafoe in straight sets in the first round here.

Nakashima will surely go into this game as the favorite, but it will not be an easy matchup with Evans looking to get back at the American.

Their last meeting happened to be at this same event, and Evans retired at 1-1, leaving Nakashima with a 3-1 lead in head-to-head numbers. The American is coming off a three-set win over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

He recovered from a quarter-final loss to Alexander Zverev at the Stuttgart Open and will be targeting a long run here. Grass isn’t his best surface, and Nakashima will have to stay alert against Evans, who has just eliminated Tiafoe.
