Cuba will meet Sweden in their second match in Group G at the 2025 World Women’s Handball Championship on Saturday in Stuttgart. Cuba are bottom of the group standings, while Sweden are in second place. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Cuba made a positive start to their opening match in this competition by taking a 3-1 lead against Brazil, but they were unable to keep up with their opponents and suffered a 41-20 defeat.
One of the major contributing factors to their collapse was committing a whopping 33 turnovers. In the second half, they only managed seven goals and never looked likely to get back in the contest.
On the positive side, Abreu Toledo scored five goals in the first half and ended with eight, while skipper Niurkis Mora Arias made 14 saves in goal to keep her side from an even bigger defeat.
Meanwhile, Sweden finished outside the medals in 2023 but kicked off this year’s competition with a solid 31-23 victory over the Czech Republic after going down 2-0 at the start of the match.
A late first-half flurry by Clara Lerby gave them a 17-13 lead at the break. Lerby and Emma Lindkvist ended on six goals apiece, while Johanna Bundsen was an assured figure in goal.
Sweden have now won seven of their last 10 matches and beat this opponent in their only previous encounter 49-25.

Our Cuba vs Sweden Prediction
When the draw for this year’s World Women’s Handball Championship was revealed, many felt that Cuba would struggle to make much of an impact in this group, and that certainly looks likely after their first match.
Sweden were professional in their performance in their opening match of the tournament and should go on to challenge Brazil for top spot in Group G. We expect the Swedes to make light work of Cuba in this one. Our Cuba vs Sweden prediction is Sweden -15.5.
