14th placed Crystal Palace welcome sixth placed Newcastle United to Selhurst Park in a clash between two in-form Premier League teams. Palace’s goal tally of 32 is the fourth worst in the division, but they improved that at the weekend with a thumping 5-2 victory over West Ham. That win came just a week after they stunned Liverpool, defeating the previously unbeaten Reds 1-0 at Anfield. Over a longer period, Palace’s form is much less consistent. They have won, drawn and lost three each of their last nine games in the EPL. Oliver Glasner’s team have scored in all of their last nine home games. A fact that Newcastle will certainly have to respect given how well Palace have performed in their last two matches. The home side are not in any relegation danger, sitting 11 points clear of the drop zone with just five games remaining.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United team have risen up the table on the back of some very good recent form. Currently sixth, they lead Manchester United comfortably on goal difference (+17 compared to -1). But with in-form Chelsea three points back (and with a game in hand), it is going to be a real battle over these last few games to see who finishes sixth. Away form has been Newcastle’s main problem this season, with just four wins on the road. However, they do come into this game on the back of four games unbeaten and with four wins in their last six. They have also lost just two of their last 11 games (away to Arsenal and Chelsea). A win here would be a huge step towards securing European football again next season.
