Crystal Palace are on a freefall and will hope to do better when they host a rejuvenated Chelsea side this weekend in the Premier League. The reverse match, played back in August, saw the two share the spoils after a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea arrive for this London Derby sitting sixth in the standings after 22 rounds of play and are six points ahead of their 13th-placed hosts. Read on for our prediction of the match below.
These two sides are headed in opposite directions after a run of contrasting results in recent weeks. While Crystal Palace are set to lose their manager at the end of the season, Chelsea are just getting started with theirs.
It has been solid for the Blues under Liam Rosenior while Oliver Glasner has overseen a lot of gloom at Selhurst Park lately. Palace hjave not only slumped in recent weeks but their squad has been shaken by exits and pending departures.

Crystal Palace - Chelsea: Form Analysis
Crystal Palace, once a solid outfit, are forced to deal with happenings on and off the pitch. Oliver Glasner’s men haven’t won since the second week of December, losing seven of the 10 matches since their last victory. In this stretch, they have been dumped out of the League Cup, FA Cup and dropped further away from the European places in the league.
The Eagles lost their last two games. After a shock defeat to Macclesfield, to see their FA Cup title defence end at the first hurdle, Palace were outscored last weekend on their return to league action at Sunderland. They have now lost eight games, one more than the seven won, to remain stuck at 28 points.
The last three meetings between these two sides failed to produce a winner.
Chelsea had, for a time, been in the same predicament as their hosts. Their indecisiveness in matches forced a coaching change at the start of the year, and this has brought about some stability. Liam Rosenior, the new man in charge, has overseen four games, winning twice.
Chelsea lost the first-leg of a League Cup semi-final against Arsenal. They showed fight in the contest as they fell 3-2, and that result seems to have been the springboard for back-to-back victories. The Blues, who haven’t conceded in two outings, defeated Pafos 1-0 last time out in the Champions League.

Crystal Palace & Chelsea Squad Analysis
Jean-Phillipe Mateta is Palace’s leading scorer with eight goals. The Frenchman has, however, found the net just once in his last 11 matches. Despite this dry run, Mateta is expected to lead the line once again, especially with Eddie Nketiah out injured. Mateta has asked to be released in the current window so it remains to be seen if he’ll feature here.
Ismaila Sarr returned to the team this week after a successful AFCON tournament with Senegal and should make an immediate return to the team. Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson and Yeremy Pino will also likely feature on the flanks. Daichi Kamada is still out injured, while Daniel Munoz is doubtful to feature.
Neither Crystal Palace nor Chelsea has fresh injuries reported from the latest outings.
Joao Pedro is having a strong debut season with Chelsea and leads the club in scoring with seven goals. He was on target last weekend against Brentford and is likely to play a lead role in attack again.
Cole Palmer has struggled with injuries and has only made 13 appearances this term. The midfielder was absent in midweek as Chelsea won in the CL. Tosin Adarabiyo, Levi Colwill, Filip Jorgensen and Romeo Lavia are ruled out through injury.

Our Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Prediction
Our prediction for Crystal Palace v Chelsea is that Chelsea wins. Chelsea have an amazing unbeaten streak against Palace, having not lost to their London rivals since 2017. With their recent upturn in fortunes, coupled with their hosts’ downward spiral, we back the Blues to get maximum points.
Chelsea have won their last two games, whereas the Eagles have gone more than a month without a win. Palace have lost more games in their current winless run, and goals for them have also dried up in recent outings.
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Alternative Predictions
Under 2.5 goals
In our second prediction, we pick this match to see an under 2.5 goals outcome. Palace are stuttering in front of the goal, and their leading scorer is going through a barren run. Chelsea, on the other hand, have shored up on defence but haven’t been free scoring. This points to a possibly low-scoring game.
