Monday evening sees the first of the FA Cup Fifth Round ties taking place as Coventry City host Maidstone United in what should be an intriguing game. Maidstone have been one of the biggest surprise packages in the FA Cup this season, beating a number of Football League teams from much higher up in the Pyramid to reach the fifth round, an outstanding achievement for the Non League side. Their FA Cup exploits have seen their league form suffer a little, with just two wins in their last five National League South games, which have dropped them down to sixth position in that league table. They have already beaten Barrow, Stevenage and Ipswich from the Football League in their FA Cup run, the latter away from home in a sensational 2-1 win over the Championship promotion contenders.

Coventry City boss Mark Robins will be well aware of the task facing his team in this game. The Sky Blues have generally had a very good home record this season, but that was dented on Friday Night in an uncharacteristic 3-0 home defeat to Preston North End. That result leaves Coventry in 8th position in the Championship table, with Preston leap-frogging them in the table. The Sky Blues have scored 11 goals in their 3 FA Cup ties so far, putting six past Oxford, before drawing 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday in the 4th Round, then defeating the Owls 4-1 in the replay. The bookmakers have Coventry as the very short-priced favourites for this game, but they also had Ipswich at a similar price and Maidstone upset the odds in that game.
