Second seed Frances Tiafoe and lucky loser Flavio Cobolli will battle each other next at the Delray Beach Open. They will square off in the quarterfinals with the winner setting up a semifinal showdown with either Tommy Paul or Jordan Thompson. Flavio Cobolli is having quite the start to the season. He will hope this form persists as he targets making his debut here much more memorable. The Italian has won 10 of the 13 matches he has so far contested with eight of his wins coming on hard courts. A majority of his wins, five, were registered at the Australian Open where he made the third round as a qualifier. This was his best-ever result at a major. Cobolli is now up to 68th in the live ranking which is a career-high world ranking for him. He defeated the qualifier Zachary Svajda in three sets to advance to this round.

Frances Taifoe has been eliminated from this ATP 250 event in this very round in his last two appearances. Not since winning the title in 2018 has he won a quarter-final match in Delray. Having started the season in unconvincing fashion, the American could suffer the same fate here once again. Tiafoe has compiled a 4-3 record so far this season. He is yet to win back-to-back matches and has suffered two of his three defeats on hard courts. The current world number 15 has lost the two quarterfinals he has been involved in so far this season.
