Stade Marcel-Michelin will come to life on Sunday as Stade Toulousain begin their defense of the Top 14 title, taking on hosts Clermont in this 2025-26 Top 14 matchday one fixture. Stade Toulousain edged out Union Bordeaux Begles 39-33 in a thrilling final last season to clinch their record 24th Top 14 title and third in a row. They are among the top favorites to retain the coveted French domestic rugby title this season. 

Ugo Mola's men will aim for nothing less than victory heading into this match. They have won three of their last five away fixtures, including each of their last three trips to Stade Marcel-Michelin. 

Clermont qualified for the playoffs last season, finishing fifth in the standings with 63 points. However, they couldn't progress past the quarterfinals, losing 20-3 to Aviron Bayonne.

Christophe Urios' side will be looking forward to a stronger campaign this season. An opening win against Stade Toulousain could be a game-changer for the Clermont-Ferrand club, but their recent struggles against the defending champions is worth noting.
