National League side Chesterfield bid to cause another FA Cup upset. They are third in their league and host West Bromwich Albion who are  ninth in the Championship. Chesterfield were in the English Football League but lost their place at the end of the 2017/18 season. Four seasons in the National League have seen them fail to finish above sixth place. This season has going better and they are in third position, nine points behind leaders Notts County but with two games in hand. Seven of their last eght league games have ended in victory and they've recovered well after losing three successive league fixtures in October. Home form has been impressive in the National League with 10 wins and two losses with the last six all won. To reach this FA Cup third round. Chesterfield have knocked out two league clubs. They beat League Two Northampton Town 1-0 at home and then in round two won 2-0 at League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon. This is the second successive season in which they have reached the FA Cup third round, losing 5-1 at Chelsea last season.

West Bromwich Albion struggled at the start of the season but have been moving up the Championship table in recent weeks. They have won their last three league games (all without conceding a goal) and rather than being in a relegation battle are now only a point behind the final promotion play-off position. A form guide for the last 10 Championship games has them third in the table. West Brom have won three of their last four away games. They haven't won an FA Cup tie since 2020 when winning away at West Ham United. They've had some tough draws though and in the last two seasons have only been knocked out after a penalty shootout. A few weeks ago the prediction for this game might have been different but it's Albion who can get the win.
