Chelsea will continue their 2024-25 preseason preparations on Saturday when they take on Celtic at Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana. This is only the second match that the Blues will be playing in preseason while the Hoops have already played four times. Let’s jump straight into the prediction.
After a very poor first half of the 2023-24 Premier League season, Chelsea recovered excellently in the second half and managed to claim sixth place and a spot in the Conference League.
They ended the campaign with an impressive five wins in a row and were unbeaten in their final six games while managing to score two or more goals in each match during that time. The last time they lost a match was against Arsenal in mid-April.
Enzo Maresca took charge of his first match with his new club in midweek against Wrexham which ended 2-2 with Christopher Nkunku and newly signed Lesley Ugochukwu scoring for the Blues on the day.
Notably, the likes of Marc Cucurella, Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are all unavailable for the Blues owing to their participation in the Euro 2024 and Copa America tournaments.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s preseason campaign has been gaining in momentum and they enter this match off the back of a 4-3 win over Premier League champions Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
That was their third preseason victory on the bounce following a 6-4 goal fest against Queen’s Park and a 4-0 win over MLS outfit DC United last week. The Bhoys are now unbeaten in their last 16 matches in all competitions, dating back to the start of March.
Brendan Rogers has an almost full squad at his disposal and could opt for a very similar lineup to the one that overcame the Citizens in midweek.
