by Devesh Jaganath in Women's Champions League Predictions
Gamweek Five in the UEFA Women's Champions League will see Chelsea taking on Real Madrid on Wednesday evening. The hosts are currently lead Group D, while the visitors are bottom of the group. Chelsea come into this match with all the momentum and this week could be crucial in determining which two in this group will advance. A win for the Blues will put them in a very good position, though, with eight points already in the bank. Chelsea are unbeaten in this competition with two wins and two draws, scoring nine and conceding just four in that time. They also lead the Women’s Super League with 28 points in 11 matches and are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions. In addition, the Blues have scored three goals in each of their last four games and have only failed to score two or more twice in their last ten. Unsurprisingly, they are the clear favourites in this one.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have been having a very poor tournament to this point and will have to win their final two group-stage matches just to have a chance of qualifying, but that may still not be enough. The only point they have managed in this competition came agaisnt this opponent on matchday one and since then they faced three consecutive defeats. In league terms, Los Blancos are in third place with 30 points after the first 13 matches and are already nine points behind runaway leaders Barcelona, who beat them comprehensively 4-0 in the Super Cup last weekend. Madrid have lost three of their last five away games heading into one and are likely to struggle to get anything from a very good Chelsea outfit here.

Our Chelsea vs Real Madrid Prediction
Based on the performances over the first four weeks, Real Madrid looks destined to exit in the group stages, and a loss here will guarantee that. Chelsea’s work is not done yet despite leading the group, and The Blues will be searching for another big performance here after dropping points to this opponent in the reverse fixture. Our Chelsea vs Real Madrid prediction: Chelsea to win the match.
