Chaves vs CD Mafra Prediction & Betting Tips - League Cup

Chaves host Mafra for the final round of their Portuguese League Cup group, also containing Porto and Vizela. Chaves are currently bottom with one point, while Mafra are third with two points, both sides with a chance to top this group. The hosts were defeated against Porto last time out, failing to exploit their opponents’ personnel absences due to the ongoing World Cup. They now need to win, Porto to lose and them to better Porto’s goal difference to make it out of this group. Taking into account their erratic recent form however, winning the game alone could prove to be a challenge. Specifically, Chaves have won just three of their last twelve matchups, conceding in ten of those. They have also prevailed in just one of their last eight home games, failing to beat Mafra in their two most recent meetings on home turf. 

Mafra claimed a draw against Vizela that could prove valuable, especially taking into account the impressive point they took against Porto in the first round. They now need to win and Porto lose or draw, provided that they better their goal difference in the latter scenario. On the upside, Mafra have become quite hard to beat in recent games. They have conceded defeat just once in their last seven encounters, albeit conceding in six of those. What should particularly worry the visitors however, should be their inconsistencies on the road. Mafra have lost nine of their last sixteen away games, failing to score in seven of those and winning just five. They have though managed to score in three of their previous four away meetings against Chaves.
