by Ian John in League One Predictions
Charlton Athletic host Blackpool on Saturday as third takes on 19th in the League One table. The Addicks have started the season very well, winning four, drawing one and losing one of their six games thus far. Their opponents, the Seasiders, are unbeaten in three league games but have won just once. Will our match prediction back the home win, away win or draw?
The home side are third in the table on goal difference behind Wrexham and Birmingham City after six games. Nathan Jones has Charlton playing very well at present, especially defensively where they look so solid. That is the case at home in particular, where they have conceded just one goal in three games thus far.
They won their last game away to Shrewsbury Town last weekend 1-0 and followed that up with a win in the Football League Trophy in midweek, a 2-1 win away to Cambridge United. The Addicks head into this game unbeaten in their last three.
Blackpool appointed Steve Bruce as their new manager recently and the well-travelled former Manchester United defender saw his team defeat Exeter City 2-1 last weekend in his first game in charge. However, they were then downed 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup Third round in midweek ahead of this fixture.
Prior to the win over Exeter, the Tangerines had yet to win a league game, drawing two and losing two of their first four games. Conceding goals had been their big issue, with a league-high 12 conceded in their opening five games.

Our Charlton Athletic vs Blackpool Prediction
Our prediction for Charlton Athletic vs. Blackpool in League One is: Charlton Athletic to win.
The data for this game strongly favors the home team despite Blackpool going unbeaten in their last three. Steve Bruce is having an impact at the Tangerines, but this is a very tough game against a very well-organized and disciplined Charlton side, who look especially difficult to beat at home. They lie third in the table and look like realistic challengers for promotion this season. They should prove that by landing a win here.
