Celtic have the chance to put more pressure on title rivals Rangers when they host St. Mirren in the Premiership. Heading into this game, Celtic are top of the pile on 75 points while St. Mirren are fifth on 43 points. As Rangers don’t play until Sunday, Celtic can open up a four-point gap at the top of the standings with a win. However, having played a game more ahead of their Saturday encounter means Celtic may be at a disadvantage in the title run-in. They can think of that later; for now the job at hand is to seek a fifth straight unbeaten game. Celtic missed a golden chance to open the gap against Rangers after drawing them 3-3 in their last game. In that encounter, The Bhoys threw away a 2-0 lead, regained the lead, then conceded again in stoppage time. The only positive they will take from that match is that they were the better team. The fact that Celtic scored three times against Rangers should also not be taken lightly. The league’s lead scorers now just need to work on their defending. Six times in their last seven matches, Celtic scored three or more goals. However, they have just one clean sheet in their last eight matches.

St. Mirren are still searching for their first win over Celtic after the 2-0 triumph in 2022. They have failed in that quest in their last seven meetings, losing six. With Celtic in the title chase, St. Mirren’s ambitions to end the bad run here call for a lot. The visitors are coming from three winless outings and have managed just two wins in their last eight matches. Toyosi Olusanya scored their consolation goal in a 2-1 loss to Hearts in their last game. That result meant St. Mirren have no clean sheet in five matches and conceded more than one in two of the last three. They’ve however scored in each of their last six matches. St. Mirren also scored in four of their last six matches against Celtic, even though they failed to win any. Playing away to Celtic will not be a walk in the park, even with a good scoring run. St. Mirren’s away record hasn’t been very impressive. They come here with just two wins in their last 14 away matches. The Saints have suffered nine defeats in those 14 away matches.
