Celtic vs Rangers Prediction & Betting Tips - Scottish Premiership
by Joseph King | in Football Predictions
Scottish football’s most famous fixture is set for another round as league leaders Celtic host second-place Rangers for the 438th edition of the Old Firm. Defending champions Celtic will be looking to extend their lead atop the standings as they currently hold a five point advantage. However, Rangers have two games in hand on their opponents, meaning they could technically move into first-place if they are able to convert the full six points. The result is a crucial fixture on Saturday, carrying with it massive title implications as the winner of this match will be in the driver's seat healing into the second half of the campaign.

Celtic - Rangers: Form Analysis
Unsurprisingly, it’s Celtic and Rangers who are dominating the standings with double-digit leads over third-place. Celtic come into this derby off of back-to-back wins after victories over Livingston and Dundee, the latter of which finished 3-0 away from home. The Bhoys did not have the type of Champions League campaign that they would have wanted, crashing out the group stage with a fourth-place finish. In their last eight fixtures, Celtic have won five and lost three.
Rangers are the in-form team of the two as the Gers have extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches across all competitions. Their most recent fixture was a 2-0 away win over Motherwell in the league, marking the team’s seventh consecutive win. It’s been a very impressive campaign for Philippe Clement’s side who have also seen success in the Europa League, topping their group and qualifying for the round of 16

Celtic & Rangers Squad Analysis
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers only has two injured players ahead of this Old Firm. Israeli winger Liel Abada is still recovering from a torn thigh muscle, making just five appearances this season before going down. The hosts will also be without Japanese midfielder Reo Hatate who suffered a hamstring injury at the end of October. Hatate was in fine form before the injury, scoring two and assisting another two in seven league matches. Celtic will hope to have the 26-year-old back next week.
On the other side, Rangers have a few injury problems with Philippe Clement unable to call upon four players for the trip to Parkhead. It's the attacking force that have been hit the hardest with players such as Danilo (striker), Tom Lawrence (winger) and Kemar Roofe (striker) all missing out with injuries. In addition, talented young midfielder Nicolas Raskin remains unavailable for selection and hasn't featured since the end of October.
