Scottish champions Celtic will continue their preparations for the upcoming season when they host EFL Championship side Middlesbrough at Parkhead on Saturday. The visiting Boro will hope they can be competitive against a Hoops side that has already played a couple of friends. That's why our prediction features goals for both teams.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup last season while finishing as runners-up in the League Cup. Boro finished fifth in the Championship regular season, advancing to the play-offs. After a drama involving Southampton, they qualified for the final but lost to Hull.
The Hoops lost 4-1 to Sporting CP on Tuesday, which was their second friendly of this campaign, following a 1-1 draw against Shelbourne. They have a friendly game lined up against AC Milan next week before they start the Scottish Premiership with a home game against Dundee in the first week of August.
Middlesbrough drew 2-2 with Farense in an unofficial game, with 22 players getting 45 minutes each. They have one more friendly lined up after this, at home against Espanyol, before the official campaign starts in the EFL Cup against Wrexham. With coach Kim Hellberg looking to improve on an indifferent record this season, Boro could be using this friendly to improve their preparations with a positive performance on this trip.
