Celtic Park will host Scottish League Cup second round action on Friday night as hosts Celtic take on fellow Premiership outfit Falkirk. Brendan Rodgers' Hoops have started the defence of their league title well with two wins in two and face John McGlynn's Bairns who have picked up just one point from their two games back in the Scottish top flight. Will our match prediction follow the trend backing a home win for the Celts?
It is certainly hard to find evidence against that. The data for both teams suggests Celtic are comfortably the favourites to win the match. Not only have the Celts won both their opening league games, they have never lost to Falkirk at Celtic Park. Currently second in the table behind Hearts on goal difference, the Hoops have begun their season with a 1-0 win over St. Mirren and followed that with a more impressive 2-0 away win at Aberdeen last weekend.
Falkirk did play in the Group Stage of the League Cup, winning three games and drawing the other (winning the penalty shootout). However, wins over Brechin, Queens Park and Spartans F.C. are different to facing the Champions away from home. They kicked off the league season with a 2-2 draw with Dundee United at home, but were beaten 3-1 away by Livingston last weekend.
