Celta Vigo will look to make it two wins in two at the start of their La Liga campaign as they host a Valencia side looking to avoid two defeats in two. This match is the second of the 2024–25 season for the two sides and will be played at the Balaidos on Friday, and our prediction is that a high-scoring affair is likely.

Celta started their league season with a 2-1 win over Alaves last week, where they came back from a goal down. Second-half strikes from Swedberg and Iago Aspas lifted them to a victory, just the fourth team to do so on matchday one in La Liga. That result extended Celta;s impressive start to this campaign, as they lost only once in eight matches during regular time.

The record is even better at home in the league, as Celta have won five and drawn two of their last seven matches played here. That could make things difficult for Valencia, who started their league campaign with a 2-1 loss away from home against Barcelona. It was an entertaining game where Hugo Duro gave Valencia a lead in the 44th minute, but two quick goals from Robert Lewandowski on either side of the break clinched the game for Barcelona.

Valencia continued their poor string of results, as that defeat was their fourth loss across the last six matches, where they won just once. Even their league form is dire, as Los Che have lost six and drawn two of their last eight league matches. Will that streak end here or is there more agony in store?
