Celta Vigo will play host to Real Madrid on matchday three of La Liga this Friday. The hosts are currently in 16th place, while the visitors currently lead the league standings. Following a 13th-placed finish last season, Celta Vigo have got the 2023-24 campaign off to a poor start. The hosts have taken just one point from their first two matches of the season. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be determined to win back the La Liga title after having to relinquish it to Barcelona last season. Los Blancos finished the season in second place with 78 points, ten behind the league winners. Over the course of the season, they recorded 24 wins, six draws, and eight losses. However, they were the highest-scoring team in the league with 75 scored in 38 games. The visitors have begun this season with a perfect record of two wins in their first two games. They overcame Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on opening day and followed up with a 3-1 win over Almeria last weekend. New signing Jude Bellingham has looked especially good, scoring in both matches, including a brace last weekend. Real Madrid maintained the third-best away record last season, with 34 points taken from a possible 57. Only Atletico Madrid and Barcelona managed better records. The Lilywhites won their last match against Celta Vigo and have not lost to them since May 2014. As a result, they are the strong favorites in this match.
