Pyunik will look to defend a slender advantage when they travel to Stadion Z'dezele to face Celje in the Conference League Playoff second leg on Thursday evening. The winner of this tie between the Counts and the Pomegranate Color will secure entry to the 2024-25 Conference League while the loser will not feature in Europe this season. Celje have had a rough time in Europe this season, as they bowed out of the Champions League to Slovan Bratislava and were narrowly beaten by Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League earlier this month. 

The Counts now have one last chance to salvage their participation in Europe but will need to overturn a one-goal deficit after losing 1-0 in Armenia last week. 

Unfortunately, they have not been in the best form of late, as a 3-0 league loss to Primorje last weekend extended their current winless run to four matches in all competitions (W0 D1 L3). However, Celje are unbeaten at home in Europe so far this term. 

Meanwhile, since exiting the Champions League, Pyunik have done well in this competition, beating Struga 4-3 and Ordabasy 2-0 on aggregate leading up to this tie. 

Notably, the Pomegranate Color have now kept clean sheets in each of their last three Conference League qualification matches and have only conceded once in their last five games in all competitions. 

Pyunik have also shut out opponents in five of their last six away games and another clean sheet here will guarantee them a spot in the main draw on August 30.
