Third seeded Matteo Berrettini takes on Carlos Alcarez in the Erste Bank quarter final. The Italian has already booked his place in the end of season ATP Tour Finals but would love to win another title before next month's event. Berrettini is ranked seventh in the world and sixth in the ATP Race that lists ranking points earned this year. He's won two titles this year and won over $3m. This is his fourth quarter final in the last six tournaments played. That includes winning at Queen's Club and reaching the Wimbledon final. This week has seen him beat Alexei Popyrin and then come from a set down to defeat in-form Nikoloz Basilashvili. He lost the first set on a tie-break but then beat the recent Indian Wells finalist by winning the final two sets for the loss of just five games.

Carlos Alcarez is the world number 42 but up to 40th in the live rankings. The 18-year-old has risen just over 100 places in the rankings this year. August and early September saw the Spaniard reach the semi-finals in Winston Salem and the the last eight at the US Open, where he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas. Since then, he's been beaten by Andy Murray at Indian Wells in the last 64. He got revenge this week with a straight sets victory over Murray. That followed a good win over another Brit, Dan Evans. This is his first match against Berrettini and it's the Italian who can get the win here
