In one of the critical matches of this Good Friday in Spain, relegation battlers Cadiz and Granada face off to improve their chances of saving their season. The Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla will host this La Liga matchday 30 fixture, with the hosts 18th in the standings with 22 points and the visitors right below them with 14 points. Cadiz are five points behind Celta Vigo, who currently occupy the last safe spot in the league. The hosts went into the international break on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad, which ended a three-game unbeaten run. Things were certainly looking up until that defeat, and another loss here would complicate their chances with nine games to go after this round. They have been a tough team to beat in home conditions, with only two teams defeating Cadiz over their last seven home league games.

Granada can’t afford a loss in this do-or-die clash, as it would leave them at least 13 points from safety with only nine games to go. They went into the break with a 1-0 loss to Mallorca, which was their third defeat on the bounce. On the positive side, a win here would take them five points adrift of their hosts, and interestingly, Granada’s last league victory came against Cadiz in the reverse fixture. Following that win, though, the visitors have failed to win their next nine league games, drawing three and losing six. Despite all the bravado over their chances, Granada can’t hide the fact that they have been very poor on the road. The visitors have lost 13 of their 15 away matches in all competitions this season.
