Brighton and Hove Albion had an excellent win at Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday. The seventh placed side return to Premier League action and host Sheffield United who are bottom of the table. The Seagulls have gone five league games without a win and are now four points off fifth and six below the Champions League positions. They have drawn their last two league fixtures and needed to come from behind to get a point at Everton last weekend. Then came the impressive win at Ajax boosting their chances of making it into the Europa League knockout stages. Brighton are unbeaten in their last four home Premier League fixtures and will be confident of getting a fourth at the Amex this season.

Sheffield United got their first league win of the season last weekend when beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 at home. Despite that success they are still bottom of the Premier League but only on goal difference. The Blades are two points from safety and after 11 games that's not a disastrous situation considering some of the results they have had. United have lost nine of their 11 league matches this season and are still waiting for their first away point. Five out of five have been lost with only three goals scored and 14 conceded. It's improving their defence which has to be a key aim when the January transfer window opens. Sheffield United have already conceded 30 league goals, three more than any other Premier League side. We go for Brighton to get a home win in this game.
