Brighton and Hove Albion need to get back to winning ways this weekend. They are ninth in the Premier League and have a golden opportunity against 19th-placed Leicester City. Can the Seagulls beat the Foxes? Read our match prediction.

The home side are six points behind the fifth place that would take them into next season's Champions League. The additional place for English clubs means the Seagulls are only four points behind seventh and even a place lower than that could see Brighton qualify.

Leicester City can only dream about such glory. They are 15 points from safety and they could be relegated back to the Championship if losing at the Amex. As you will read, their current form is absolutely appalling. It's not just that they cannot stop conceding goals, they have nearly forgotten what it is like to score in the Premier League. Can they avoid yet another league defeat?

Brighton - Leicester: Form Analysis

Brighton have lost their last two Premier League fixtures. A loss at home to Aston Villla was followed by defeat at arch-rivals Crystal Palace last weekend. They also lost at home to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup but only on penalties.

There is still the chance of European football next season but they need to get back to winning matches. A home game against Leicester is just about the best chance a team can have. The Seagulls had won three successive home league games before losing to Villa.

City are in dreadful form.

Leicester City are counting down the days to when they are relegated. It's that bleak at the King Power Stadium and it could happen this weekend. The Foxes lost 3-0 at home to Newcastle on Monday and have now lost eight league games in a row.

21 goals have been conceded in those defeats and not a single goal scored themselves. 15 of their last 16 Premier League fixtures have been lost and nine of the last ten on the road.

Brighton & Leicester Squad Analysis

There is no point seeing your European qualification chances being boosted if you don't win matches. Brighton will want to end a poor run with three points against Leicester City. An attacking formation is likely to be employed against a City defence that has already conceded 70 goals.

One atack after another for Brighton.

Pedro, Mitoma and Minteh will be going all out to make life as difficult as possible for the leaky Leicester defence. Brighton have scored in six of their last eight home league games and it's inevitable they will create chance after chance in this match.

They will be without the suspended Jan Paul van Hecke with Veltman, Webster and Lamptey still on the sidelines. Lamptey scored in the reverse fixture that ended 2-2. The Seagulls will fight to the end of this game as they led at Leicester 2-0 going into the 86th minute.

Leicester are close to being relegated and fully deserve to be. They are a pale shadow of the team that won the Premier League. They lost again on Monday and you wonder what's worse. Having a terrible defence or a toothless attack.

They will try to defend deep as they try to withstand the continual Brighton attacks.  The use of players such as Vardy and Daka as counter-attackers will be their main aim in an attempt to get something from this match.

City cannot play Facundo Buonanotte as he's on loan from Brighton. Harry Winks is in their bad books and won't be playing.

Our Brighton vs Leicester Prediction

Brighton really cannot afford to drop points in this game. They have lost their last two league games and are down to ninth in the table. There is still hope of only a second European campaign but they need to get some wins.

Leicester City are on their way back to the Championship. They keep on losing, concede far too many goals and last scored a league goal on January 26. Their away form is appalling and our Brighton v Leicester prediction is Brighton to win and lead at half and full time.
