Brest will target their seventh home win in Ligue 1 when they host Le Havre this Sunday. A great season for Brest has them in second spot, 12 places ahead of Le Havre. Brest just managed to avoid relegation last season and this term they’ve emerged as challengers for the title. With 43 points so far, they are 11 behind league leaders PSG, but the closest challengers. They have already surpassed their points tally for the entire season in 2022/23 and have lost just four times. Going by their performance this season, getting into the Champions League group stages next season would be a worthwhile reward. Coming into this encounter they have two straight wins, and both with clean sheets. Mahdi Camara’s hat trick led Brest to a 3-0 away win at Strasbourg last time out. That, coming after a 1-0 win over Marseille should have Brest really confident. Their only loss in 15 matches was against PSG in the French Cup, after which they responded with a draw and two wins. Les Pirates will bank heavily on their home league form coming into this game; they’ve lost none of their last six there. In those six league games at home, Brest have conceded one goal and won four times.

After 14 years outside Ligue 1, Le Havre’s return hasn’t been great. After 23 matches, they have just 24 points, that’s just two above the relegation region. Their tally of just five wins in 23 matches has them among favorites to go down this season. Coming into this game without a win in the last six matches doesn’t help their confidence. Le Havre’s 2-1 loss at home to Reims last time out was their fourth straight. Their only positive from that game is that at least they managed to score having failed in the earlier two games. It hasn’t been any better away from home for the visitors. They come into this match without a win in the last four, and in that run, they conceded thrice three times. Taking on a Brest side coming from a 3-0 win over Strasbourg doesn’t promise to be an easy encounter. The fact that a loss here could see Le Havre drop into the relegation zone just about heightens the pressure for Luka Elsner’s charges.
