11th-place Brentford look to close the gap on the top half when they host 17th-placed Luton Town for matchday 14 in the Premier League. Brentford have been a middling team through the first third of the season, trailing leaders Arsenal by 14 points and leading bottom-placed Burnley by 12 points. The Bees had previously ripped off three straight wins, two of which came on home soil, before a challenging pair of fixtures against Liverpool and Arsenal. Brentford failed to upset the odds in those two matches, losing 3-0 to Klopp’s side away from home and 1-0 at home to the Gunners in their most recent outing. They were close to grabbing a result as they held out for 89 minutes before a late Kai Havertz header condemned them to their second straight loss. Brentford should be confident of ending their losing skid here as they have a strong 4-3-1 record against teams that are currently ninth-place and below.

Luton Town’s first foray into the Premier League has gone about as expected. The Hatters currently sit just above the relegation zone in 17th-place with nine points from 13 matches. They’re coming off just their second league win of the season following a 2-1 home victory over Crystal Palace thanks to a Jacob Brown goal in the 83rd minute. The victory snapped a six-match winless run and moved Luton Town five points clear of 18th-place Sheffield. Luton Town will now be hoping to carry over that momentum into this one. They’ll have to reconcile with their poor away form if they are to get a result, however. The Hatters have a record of 1-1-5 on the road in the Premier League so far. Goals have been hard to come by for the visitors. Their total of 12 strikes in 13 matches has them as the third-lowest scoring team in the division.
