Brentford made a good start to the season but have hit a bit of a rough patch of late. They lost their last match 3-1 to Everton and are now winless in their last four league matches. In the last round of this competition, they also drew 1-1 with lower-league Newport County but got through on penalties. In their last six matches, The Bees have won two, drawn two and lost two. They are also winless in their last four matches at home, drawing three and losing the most recent. The last time these sides met, it ended 1-1, but the hosts will know that their opponents are likely to make several changes for this match. This could level the playing fields somewhat, but will Brentford be able to take advantage of it? 

Meanwhile, Arsenal come into this one fresh from a very entertaining 2-2 draw in the London derby last week. That result kept their unbeaten run this season intact after nine games in all competitions. During that time, The Gunners also kicked off the Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win over PSV and downed Man United at the start of the month. The visitors have been particularly good in attack this term, scoring two or more goals in five of their last seven matches. Arenal have also won their two away league matches so far and kept clean sheets in both games. However, with Champions League commitments and a trip to the Vitality Stadium this weekend, Mikel Arteta may consider this cup one of their lower priorities.
