Neither Brazil or Argentina managed to set the world on fire during the summer. Brazil blew hot and cold and were eventually defeated by Belgium in the quarter finals. Argentina also had their fair share of problems, struggling to get out of the group and then losing to eventual winners France in the last sixteen. This game takes place in Jeddah rather than South America and the last game between these two sides was also a friendly that was won 1-0 by Argentina last year. Before that Brazil had won two and draw one with four points earned in the marathon South American World Cup qualifying group.
Brazil have won all three games played since losing to Belgium with wins over the USA, El Salvador and Saudi Arabia and they haven't conceded in any of those matches while scoring nine goals. They have only lost one of their last 19 matches and two in 29. Their defensive skills are a lot better than from some Brazilian teams of the past and in the last 13 games they have kept 11 clean sheets. Argentina have also played three games since the World Cup. Two wins over Guatemala and Iraq and a goalless draw with Colombia. Brazil is a step up on opposition for them and their defence remains a worry, go for Brazil to get the win here.
