Eintracht Frankfurt’s season-opener will be an away game at Eintracht Braunschweig in the DFB Pokal. Their first meeting in 10 years finds Frankfurt as favorites going into this first round fixture. Read on for our preview and prediction.
Braunschweig lost their last two home matches against Frankfurt and will be eyeing a better outing this time. Their targets for this game will, however, be curtailed by the fact their start to the new season hasn’t been great.
In their two matches so far, Braunschweig have suffered defeats and conceded a total of eight goals. They are coming from a 3-1 loss at home to Magdeburg. There will be some optimism in their camp though, seeing that they scored in both matches.

Eintracht Frankfurt have had a solid run in preseason and will hope to carry on here. They won five of their six friendly matches, but wrapped up with a 3-2 loss to Valencia.
The visitors didn’t have a strong ending to last season, winning once in the closing nine matches. However, we do not expect them to have a lot of trouble handling their hosts here. Eintracht Frankfurt have four straight wins against Braunschweig.
They will be looking to go one better than their run in this competition in 2022/23. Back then they got to the final only to fall 2-0 to Leipzig.
