 For the third time, Brandon Nakashima will be competing in the third round at Wimbledon. He faces Lorenzo Sonego in a bid to set a new high at this stage. This match will mark their second meeting, and the winner will face Ben Shelton or Marton Fucsovics. Read on for our prediction.

These two players haven't had much trouble in the opening rounds. Nakashima is coming from wins against Bu Yunchaokete and Reilly Opelka, dropping one set in each.

He is riding on good form on grass, which currently stands at 6-2 for the season. It is a remarkable improvement for a player who came from a losing run on clay.

Sonego has had a far shakier campaign. The Italian saw off Jaime Faria in the first round with ease but had sticky moments before he could manage the second-round win against Nikoloz Basilashvili.

Sonego finished the clay swing on a 1-5 record and had compiled an 8-8 run on hard courts. It leaves him on a losing record even as he is 4-3 on grass. Such inconsistency has cost him dearly.

Before arriving in London, the 30-year-old hadn’t been able to win back-to-back matches in 17 straight outings. The last time that actually happened, he had benefitted from a walkover as Luka van Assche withdrew in Marseille.
