Mikel Arteta will take charge of his first game as Arsenal coach with his inherited side lying in 11th place four points ahead of their hosts Bournemouth who are languishing in 14th position on 19 points. Arsenal played out a drab 0-0 draw with Everton last time out which was interim boss Freddie Ljungberg’s parting match. The Gunners have just one win from 13 games in all competitions, hence the appointment of Arteta, and they come up against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth who have lost six of their last 8 games with wins against Manchester United and Chelsea in between.
Bournemouth are precariously above the drop zone and are in real danger of falling into the bottom three after the busy Christmas period if other results go against them. Away from home Arsenal have a record of two wins, four draws and three losses in the Premier League this season and their last away game before Everton was at West Ham which they won 3-1. That being their only win in 13. The Gunners are unbeaten in four away from home in all competitions with three draws in that run. The Cherries meanwhile, have lost three straight at the Vitality Stadium against Wolves, Liverpool and Burnley and their last home win came against Manchester United on the 2nd of November.
