The second round of the DFB Pokal will see Borussia Dortmund play host to Hoffenheim on Wednesday. The hosts secured a 6-1 victory over Schott Mainz in their opening match of the competition, which took place on the road. Dortmund come into this match with solid form behind them. They played out a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt over the weekend, which extended their unbeaten record to seven matches in all competitions. During that time, they recorded two draws and five wins, including beating Newcastle United in the Champions League. The hosts have also not lost to this opponent in their last seven matches and are the clear favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim’s first DFB Pokal match saw them triumph 4-1 over Lubeck back in August. After only managing a 12th-placed finish in the league last term, they have been much improved in the current campaign. Die Kraichgauer won their last match 3-2 away to Stuttgart over the weekend, which saw them move into sixth place in the league. They are now on 18 points after nine matches and just two behind RB Leipzig in fifth place. The Blues have been flawless on the road this season, winning all six of their away matches in all competitions. They have also scored two or more goals in each of those games. However, they will now have to find a way to overcome a side that has outscored them 14-7 in their last seven meetings.
