The Bulls welcome Griquas to Loftus Versfeld for the first semi-final in the Carling Currie Cup. The home team lost their last match 35-5 to the Cheetahs and as a result they were pipped to the first position on the table. The Bulls still managed to finish the league stage of the competition in second place which meant they received a home semi-final. They will be confident of victory coming into this match after beating Griquas home and away in the league phase. The Bulls however will not have the luxury of selecting any first choice players as the first team will be playing the URC final in Cape Town against the Stormers. They have only lost once at home to the Griquas in the last 12 years and they will be favourites to maintain that impressive record.

The Griquas have installed themselves as the comeback kings of the Currie Cup as they came back from almost impossible situations in their past two matches to snatch victory in the dying minutes of those matches. The men from Kimberley will fancy an upset win in this match as the Bulls have to field an understrength team due to URC commitments. Griquas seem to be peaking at the right time but they will need to start better as coming from behind against the Bulls is no easy task. They will have gained a load of confidence from winning three of their last four away matches.
