Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will start their title defence in the 2025-26 campaign when they host Leipzig on matchday one. This match on Friday at Allianz Arena between the Bavarians and Die Roten Bullen comes with our prediction of a Bayern win with BTTS.
Bayern won the title last season with a lot to spare, as they ended with a 13-point gap to Leverkusen. Leipzig finished seventh with 51 points and finished outside European qualification, separated by one point from Mainz.
The Bavarians celebrated their start of the campaign with a 2-1 win in the Super Cup, defeating Stuttgart last weekend. That was their fourth win in a row, including three friendlies.
Bayern’s summer also involved playing in the FIFA Club World Cup, where they reached the quarter-final before losing 2-0 to PSG. Coach Vincent Kompany will hope to get the defence up and running immediately, as he aims to improve on their record when kickstarting a campaign.
Leipzig had their worst-ever Bundesliga finish last season and will not be playing in Europe for the first time since 2016-17. That could perhaps work to their advantage, after a 4-2 away win against Sandhausen last week in the DFB Pokal.
The visitors have troubled Bayern in recent times, losing only two of the last seven head-to-head games (W2, D3, L2).
