Barnsley vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions & Betting Tips (League One)

League One leaders Sheffield Wednesday face a tough away game at fourth placed Barnsley. They begin this match a point clear of Plymouth Argyle but have two games in hand on their rivals. It would be three points but they couldn't hold onto a 1-0 lead at home to Bolton Wanderers and ended up drawing 1-1. That saw the gap at the top reduced as the next three sides (including Barnsley) all won on Saturday. The draw ended a run of five straight wins in League One. Their last two away league games at Charlton and Portsmouth have both been won 1-0. They do have the best away record in League One with ten wins and only nine goals conceded but they will have to be in top form to win this.

Barnsley are six points behind third placed Ipswich Town and six adrift of Plymouth who are in the second and final automatic promotion spot. However, they have a couple of games in hand on both sides. Trouble is one of them is against the league leaders but that won't scare them too much after wining 2-0 at Wednesday in September. Saturday saw Barnsley get a good 1-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers to make it three victories in a row. Seven goals have been scored in those wins with only one conceded. Their last home game was a 3-0 win over Plymouth and that made it nine wins and a loss to Bolton in the last ten home league fixtures. The last five have all been won with an aggregate score of 15-3. 12 out of 17 home league games have been won this season, so it's a tough game for Wednesday. A double chance bet on Barnsley to win or draw is the suggested wager.
