Spanish giants Barcelona will open their La Liga charge with a home game against Rayo Vallecano, the Catalans coming from a strong run in preseason and having invested well in the transfer window. Barcelona wrapped up preseason engagements with a 6-0 win over Pumas UNAM, that being the fourth of their last five matches in which they scored two or more goals. They haven’t only been good in attack, they’ve done their business in defence as well, with four clean sheets in the last five matches, and only two goals conceded. Robert Lewandowski has added to a rich forward line that already has Raphinha and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and this is a game Barcelona should do well in. In each of their last five matches, Barcelona have gone to the break leading.

Rayo Vallecano are also coming from an unbeaten run in preseason, winning two and drawing three of their last five. They finished with two draws – against Manchester United and Real Valladolid. Apart from their 0-0 draw with Valladolid, Rayo have been able to score in each of the earlier four matches. Three times in the last five matches, they’ve scored twice, but they have just two clean sheets in the five matches. Last season, Rayo beat Barcelona home and away, with each of the matches ending 1-0 and they will be eyeing the same when they travel to the Nou Camp again. They will also be looking to rise from a run of five winless matches in La Liga. In each of their last three league matches, Rayo have conceded two or more goals and they’ve lost them all.
